General Nursing Care

The mission of the Nursing Department is to provide patient centered and individualized quality care for all patients.  Although technology is an ever present factor in health care today, the nursing staff of Willapa Harbor Hospital enjoy being able to offer excellent personal bedside care.  Most of the nursing staff have worked together for many years, and work as a cohesive team to provide for all the needs of each patient.  Also, most of our staff are lifelong residents of this community, and have made a commitment to this hospital and the community that we serve.  Patients are frequently actual friends or family of the staff, and those that are not, feel like they are friends and family after a stay at Willapa Harbor.  For those patients that have need for repeat services, they are greeted by warm and familiar faces that remain constant over the years.  Individual preferences and medical histories are often remembered by the staff from visit to visit and can be incorporated into the patient’s plan of care from the beginning of the stay.  The ability to heal is comprised of many factors.  One of the most vital healing pathways is the attentive caring of our highly trained and professional nurses.

Your nursing team will be comprised of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators.  We also have a very active Discharge Planning and Utilization Review team that works in concert with the direct care staff.

All Registered Nurses at Willapa Harbor Hospital must maintain several certifications.  These include Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nurse Certification.  Many of the LPNs also take these courses even though it is not required of them.
