Option Two: Replacement on the current site in South Bend

The Board and Administration of Willapa Harbor Hospital has looked carefully at the option of replacing the facility on the current site.

Like building the replacement on a new site, this would add some needed patient service space. However, this option would require five to six years of construction. This would interrupt patient services and decrease access to care as it would dramatically reduce available parking on the site during the five to six years of construction.

While it would address the needs of the hospital, clinic, and outbuildings, it would not address the issue of parking. This option would cost approximately $91.5M for design, construction, and demolition. In addition, there would be a revenue loss of approximately $72M (assuming a 20% decrease of revenues over the course of six years) with an additional escalation of costs of $27.5M, assuming materials inflation of between 3% and 6% per year (approximately $4.57M per year). This option could cost as much as $191M.

The Board of Willapa Harbor Hospital, Pacific County Hospital District #2, is carefully considering all options. We will continue to gather your input and share information as we review these options.

Our priority is to assure that high quality, modern, health care remains available to North Pacific County for generations.
