After months of planning, collaboration, and dedication behind the scenes, Willapa Harbor Hospital proudly held the first meeting of its newly established Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) on August 24.

Creating the PFAC has been a significant undertaking, involving countless hours of meetings, interviews, recruitment efforts, and thoughtful organization. The council represents an important step forward in strengthening the partnership between Willapa Harbor Hospital and the community it serves.

The PFAC brings together patients, family members, caregivers, and hospital staff who share a common goal: improving healthcare in our community. By providing valuable insight and diverse perspectives, council members will help guide efforts to enhance the patient experience, improve communication, support quality and safety initiatives, strengthen patient and family education, and improve care transitions.

Patient and Family Advisory Councils play an important role in ensuring that healthcare organizations understand the needs and experiences of those they serve. Through open dialogue and collaboration, PFAC members help identify opportunities for improvement and contribute ideas that support more patient-centered care.

A special thank you goes to PFAC co-chairs Melanie and Karri, pictured in the front center, whose leadership and commitment were instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Their hard work, organization, and passion for creating a stronger voice for patients and families have laid the foundation for what promises to be a meaningful and impactful council.
